Years of neglect and agrarian over-use inspired the new owner's of this private ranch on the Gaviota Coast toward ecological and aesthetic restoration. We were compelled to make the garden seem more an extension of the wild areas nearby than a private estate. Eucalyptus trees were felled, the largest milled and lumber dried for use on the entry gate and elaborate tree house built in a massive ancient oak. 

Two seasonal creeks, used by previous owners for dumping yard and other ranch waste, were restored to bio-swales.  A seasonal pond was created at the bottom of the largest swale, capturing sediment and other pollutants from ranches upstream.
